Leonie McCarthy set up the British Red Cross Refugee Project
in Peterborough
- the first project of its kind, delivering a one-stop service to assist Asylum
Seekers, Refugees and Migrant Workers to access services and information within
the city. Since July 2004 she has managed Peterborough's
'New Link New Arrivals Partnership' - which supports and co-ordinates the
integration of new arrivals to the city. This won the 2005 UK National Housing
Award for 'Excellence in Promoting Community Cohesion'.

Stewart
Room is a partner in the
European law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse. He Is dual qualified as a Barrister
and a Solicitor. He is one of the UK's leading experts in data
protection and privacy law. Recent publications include "Access to Stored
Communications and Traffic Data by Law Enforcement Agencies"
"Hard-core Spammers Beware" and "Data-Sharing - Efficiency or
Confusion?" His book "Data Protection and Compliance in Context" was
published in 2006 as well as the data protection chapter in "Goode's
Consumer Credit Law and Practice" (2005).
He is a regular contributor
to TV and Radio appearing as the UK legal expert in the Channel 4
Dispatches documentary "The Data Theft Scandal", which exposed
security failings in the Indian Call Centre industry (2006).
He sits on the British
Computer Society's Information Privacy Expert Panel, and is Chairman of the
National Association of Data Protection and Freedom of Information Officers. He is a visiting lecturer on data protection at Queen Mary College, University
of London.
